Terms of Service

MaLesedi.ai · Effective July 2026

1. Who we are

MaLesedi.ai ("we", "the service") provides the Lesedi AI assistant — chat and coding tools — to users in South Africa and beyond. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information at sign-up and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. One person per account; you must be 18 or older, or have a guardian's consent.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans (Lite, Plus, Pro, Builder, Max) are billed monthly in advance via PayFast. Each plan carries usage allowances (messages, thinking-model quota, coding credits); when an allowance runs out, the service throttles rather than bills extra — you will never receive a surprise charge. Prices are shown in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. We may change prices with 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing cycle. Cancellation and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

4. Bring your own key

If you connect your own provider key (for example OpenRouter or Vercel AI Gateway), model usage is billed to you directly by that provider under their terms. Your key is stored in your browser only, transmitted per-request, and never written to our logs or databases. The BYOK platform fee (R50/month at launch) covers access to the MaLesedi platform, skills and interface.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to harm others, to generate malicious code or content, to attempt to extract other users' data, or to overload or reverse-engineer the platform. We may suspend accounts that do. AI outputs can be wrong — verify important information before acting on it, and do not rely on the service for medical, legal or financial advice.

6. Your content and data

You own what you write and what Lesedi produces for you. We process personal information under POPIA as described in our Privacy Policy, with data residency in South African regions and no third-party trackers.

7. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the service is provided "as is" — features may change, and outages of ours or of upstream model providers can occur. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before a claim, to the maximum extent South African law allows. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

8. Contact and disputes

Questions and complaints: hello@malesedi.ai. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
